Rental Policy Change - Filing Flight Plans

Background:
The Brantford Flying Club provides alerting services for our members flying BFC aircraft.  Alerting services means the BFC staff would initiate our internal processes if a plane was deemed overdue or missing.

NavCanada provides flight plan alerting services for all aircraft that file a VFR flight plan 24hours/day, 7 days/week.  NavCanada staff maintains a database of contact numbers for airports and airport staff throughout Canada, to aid in them looking for an overdue or missing aircraft.

We have been reviewing the safety of the alerting service that the Brantford Flying Club offers and have determined that NavCanada can provide a more effective and safer flight following system than our own staff.

Policy Change:
Effective August 22, 2011, any dual, solo or recreational flights are required to file a NavCanada flight plan when:
• The flight lands at another airport – touch & go’s or full stop landings.
• The flight begins and/or ends after normal business hours

When filing a flight plan:
• The Brantford Flying Club is to be noted as the emergency contact.
• A copy of the flight plan is to be left in the Flight Office

The BFC rental policy has been amended to reflect the above changes. - BFC Rental Policy - August 2011

The safety of our pilots and our aircrafts is a major part of the mission of the Brantford Flying Club.  Please help us as we strive to have the safest flying club possible.
